{Sunday's
heartfelt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of
gratitudes.}
Earlier this week I happened to come across the Wooly Moss Roots blog
and was inspired by the idea of Gratitude Sunday. As a child, one year I
decided that every day I would write down something I was thankful for and put
it in a mason jar with a lid. It was a wonderful thing to sit and reflect back
on my day to realize all the things I had to be thankful for. Looking back I
realize how wise I was at such a young age (I think maybe 10 or 11 years old?)
After that year I switched back to my usual style of journaling my thoughts
with no special focus. Until this week.
When I read about Gratitude Sunday earlier this week I was not only
inspired to join in the weekly Sunday post but challenge myself to start writing every evening my about what I was grateful for that day. It has been a powerful
experience. To take the time to sit and reflect back on my day, to realize just
how blessed I truly am, is so good for the soul. I feel so peaceful and
centered after I write down my daily gratitudes.
So a big thank you to Taryn over at Wooly Moss Roots for hosting Gratitude Sunday and
inspiring this new venture in my life!
Highlights of what I wrote about being grateful for this past week:
-starting to take time each evening to reflect on my day and write down what I am grateful for that day as a means to be more centered in my life
-cutting
this season’s first bouquet of wildflowers from our gardens to take to a friend’s
going away gathering
-spending
time in the gardens with our baby showing her all the flowers and vegetables
growing
-letting
our baby chew on a mint leaf from the garden and getting to smell her sweet
minty baby breath
-the
beautiful sound and fresh scent of a soft rain shower that fell while I cooked
supper
- watching
two bumblebees on my vibrant purple lupine flowers
-laughter
with my husband
-going to
Tiny Tales at the library in town and our baby “singing” along loudly in her
baby babble
-hanging
diapers out on the clothesline to dry while our baby curiously played in the
dirt in my old wheelbarrow planter
-watching
the expressions on our baby’s face as she explored new things
-sunshine,
sunshine, SUNSHINE! after weeks of endless rain…..
-seeing
an osprey and eagle soaring over the river as we ate dinner along the Blackfoot River
-watching
our little Robin friend “Roberto” visit our yard every day and eat worms from
the gardens
-starting
to harvest spinach and lettuce from our gardens
-our baby’s
heart melting laugh
-the
amazing colors, shapes, designs of the flowers in our gardens
