| Our little book worm and her stack of animal identification books |
While our children’s book collection has grown, it has not
cost us a lot of money. Why? Because I have a thing for thrift shops and yard
sales so I’m always on the look out for more books to add to our collection. We've also been able to find a few used ones online through Amazon.
Here are our top five favorite nature themed board books for
babies and toddlers:
1. On the Mountain: A Touch-and-Feel Adventure (A Nature Trail Book) by Maurice Pledger. Because this book is a touch and feel book and our daughter absolutely loves it. She often pulls it out, sits down by herself to flip through and touch the different textures of the animals on each page.
2.Owl Babies by Martin Waddell. This one is my personal favorite because I'm an owl fanatic!
3.Mountain Babies by Kristen McCurry. We love this book because it is a great way to teach our daughter about animals found in our region. When reading this, we always try to imitate the noise each animal makes and our daughter absolutely loves it- especially the cow elk!
4. Jamberry by Bruce Degen. We love this book about berry picking for jam because picking huckleberries is a family tradition for us every summer. We also grow our own strawberries and raspberries and love making and canning homemade jam. We love this book so much we even came up with a fun tune we sing the book to.
5. Find My Friends by Carl R. Sams and Jean Stoick. This fun book shows a variety of animals and their natural camouflage. Our daughter enjoys the pictures in this book and gets a big smile and says "deer!" when we get this book out.
