Gratitude Sunday 4-28-2013

Welcome to Gratitude Sunday, a weekly link-up hosted by Taryn at Wooly Moss Roots. On Sundays we take the time to reflect back over the last week and all we have to be grateful for. The last few weeks have been challenging and filled with tears at times but through it all I am reminded that we have so much to be grateful for.

-Allowing myself to take time away from our Etsy shop and blogging as we've struggled with a crisis with our family out of state. It is very hard for me to step away from our small business because I work so hard to grow our business but I realize that sometimes other things in life are more important.

-Speaking the truth.

-Working in our gardens. So simple yet so therapeutic.

-Tackling the big project to expand our gardens with the help of my little gardening assistant.

-Finding worms in our garden soil to show our little nugget and her new obsession with "wormies".

-A weekend away at my good friend's farm and off grid tipi for a much needed break and "mama time" away from home.

-Friends giving us a hand me down big plastic turtle sandbox. The $10 I spent on sand was so worth it for all the joy it has brought our little nugget.

-That I still, for now, have my very part time social work job in town. I've worked two days a week in town for the last year which has provided us a small, steady income which we rely on because our Etsy shop income fluctuates. A few weeks ago we found out that there were some serious budgeting errors made at the state level in the contract program I work for so hours would have to be cut over the next few months. My hours did not get cut in this first round of cuts although we anticipate they will be at some point so are focusing our energies on filling our Etsy shop with more creations and expanding our wholesale orders.

-The humbling act of my supervisor to cut her own hours instead of cutting mine this first round of staffing cuts. This brings me to tears every time I think about it....

-Meeting our goal of having 100 items in our Etsy shop, although it only lasted a few hours until we sold something!

-A spur of the moment change of plans for the day to take advantage of a beautiful, sunny day to head out hiking and antler hunting.

-The joy and wonder in our Little Nugget when we got to see some deer and horses on our way home "Deer!" "Neigh!"

-A new wholesale order!

-Waking up to a lovely sunrise.

-A spur of the moment trip to the local ice cream shop with our little nugget while running errands in town.

-Looking at our little nugget sometimes and feeling overwhelmed with a sense of love and gratitude for this amazing little being we are blessed to have in our lives.

  1. Hello :)

You have such a nice list this week. It's so unusual to hear of a supervisor cutting their own hours first - respect to her!

I have those overwhelming moments every day when I look at my own little nugget. It's a fantastic feeling isn't it!

Sounds like you've had a lovely week :) xx
