I drink a lot of water and always pack a water bottle everywhere I go: errands in town, on a walk, outdoor adventuring and working at my part time social work job in town each week. Because I drink so much water, having a safe and environmentally friendly water bottle is important to me. We have quite the reusable water bottle collection, you could even say I'm a picky connoisseur of water bottles!
I had a chance to review a Liberty Bottleworks Roots water bottle and it is by far my favorite water bottle in my collection. For starters, look at this awesome graphic on the front!
The fun graphics wrap all the way around the water bottle!
I chose the sport top instead of a standard cap so our little nugget could also easily share my water bottle when we're out adventuring.
The sipper spout flips up by gently pushing down on the black curved part of the cap.
The sport top also comes with a long straw that can be easily removed from the cap.
When using the water bottle with the straw, you can simply hold the water bottle and sip from the spout. If the straw is removed, you just tip the water bottle back and suck from the sipper spout. You can also remove the lid and drink straight from the bottle. I love the sport top because I can just grab my water bottle and get a quick sip of water while driving, working or out adventuring without having to remove the lid like a standard water bottle cap. This is also a great feature to have while driving on rocky, bumpy dirt roads in the mountains which we do often; I can't tell you how many times I've tried to sip water out of the mouth of a different water bottle on a bumpy dirt road only to have it splash all over my face. With the sport top, that never happens!
Liberty Bottleworks water bottles have a unique cap attachment that only requires a 1/4 turn on or off. See those three little nobs sticking out just below the top rim? Those align with little notches on the cap and with a quick 1/4 turn the lid is securely attached or quickly removed without several threads to turn though like some other water bottles I have.
I took the water bottle to my part time social work job in town to test out how it worked. Seconds after I removed it from my bag and sat it on my desk, a co-worker saw it and immediately said "I love that water bottle design, where did you get it?" While looking good is great, it is also important to be functional and that it is. It did not leak at all when the sipper top was closed even when I turned it upside down and shook it! It also held 32oz of our refreshing well water so I did not have to refill with city water at work!
Liberty Bottleworks is by far the best water bottle company I have experience with! Why?
- They are made in the USA in Yakima, WA
- Made of 100% recycled aluminum and recyclable
- BPA free
- Easy thread lid
- Wide enough mouth to fit ice cubes
- Available in sport top with a long straw
- Food grade lining that doesn't chip or hold bacteria or odors
- No spill top
- They support small artists to design their water bottle graphics
- They have a wide variety of very fun water bottle graphics
- Minimal packaging and recyclable packaging
- Commitment to stewardship: 1% of sales and 1% of working hours donated to a variety of grass roots efforts
- Humor! This company gets extra points from me for their good humor. I love a good laugh and appreciate when when folks throw in humor when they can since life is too short not to laugh often. When we opened the box the water bottle came in, there was this brown slip of paper with Sasquatch characters demonstrating the three different ways you can drink from the water bottle: chugga, sucka or sippa. The write up is hilarious!
What didn't thrill me about the water bottle?
- When using the sport top without the straw, it makes a rather loud whistling noise. In my car this isn't an issue, but at the office it can be heard by my co-workers nearby and a bit distracting! This issue is resolved by making sure I use the straw with it so it doesn't make a sound when I sip.
- Having to make sure I have the cap on just right and ensure it clicks so it will not leak. This just takes me a little extra time since I'm not used to this style of cap.
Overall I loved the Roots water bottle and highly recommend it! We're planning to buy a few more smaller sized bottles with the sport top for our little nugget to use instead of a sippy cup. That water bottle looks amazing. I drink a lot of water too, and we have also have a huge collection of water bottles. But, I have to say I do not have a bottle with a removable straw, which I think would be awesome. I'd love to get this bottle - I love the straw and how fashionable the bottle is.

I love that these are made in the USA! It is also so nice to have the sport spout top for the little ones! My kiddo has decided sport spouts are totally stellar and he LOVES to drink from them like a big boy! So cute! And, being made in Yakima makes them even cooler, since Yakima rocks! Great Review!
