Women in Hunting Series Part 8: Omniio Huntress and Hunter Soap Review

We recently had the opportunity to review the Omniio O My Huntress and Hunter goats milk soaps and just in time for our rifle hunting season! When I first saw these soaps for sale online, I knew they were the perfect soaps for us. Why? Not only are they made with all natural goat’s milk, they are camouflage and made to use before going out for a hunt!

Until these soaps I had never seen a camouflage bar of soap. The Huntress Soap is pink camo and the Hunter soap is a dark colored camo.

These soaps aren’t just fun to look at, they are made specifically to use before going out hunting instead of using a chemical based scent or all natural deer urine. (For the record, we have never used deer urine but some swear by it; I love hunting but I draw the line at covering myself in deer urine!) The soaps come in two different scents: Wildnerness and Unscented. We tested the Hunter soap in wilderness and the Huntress soap in Unscented. When I first showed the Hunter soap to my husband, he smelled it and said “It smells like earth.” That’s perfect! We want to smell natural when we go into the woods. The Unscented had a very faint scent if you put it right up to your nose for a good sniff but it did not leave a scent on our skin.
We used the soaps before heading out on several hunts to test them out. After using the Unscented soap, my skin had no scent and was super soft all day long. The Wilderness soap leaves a light earthy scent on the skin that lasts throughout the day. Unlike other “nature” scented body care products we have used, it really did have a natural smell to it. From my experience, a lot of products made to have natural/nature scents smell strong and fake. The Wilderness soap is different and we really liked it.
Since the soaps are made primarily with goat’s milk, it leaves our skin feeling soft and nourished after using it. My husband has short hair and always uses a bar of soap to wash his hair instead of shampoo. After using the Hunter soap the first time, he said his hair felt really soft which does not happen with other soaps he has used.
We did have a funny experience with our soaps that I will share with you. I mentioned above that the Hunter soap is a dark camo. When we first got it, I washed my hands with it to test it out. The first thing I noticed was that because it is made with dark colors, it created soap bubbles that were dark gray colored. I didn’t mention this to my husband since I didn’t think anything of it. It just happened that the day we got the soaps, my husband had been out wrenching on our old truck in the garage. He came in with black greasy hands and headed right to the shower. When he finished and I asked him what he thought of the Hunter soap he said “That was different! I scrubbed and scrubbed and couldn’t figure out why the water was still gray, I didn’t think I was THAT dirty. Then I eventually figured out I really was clean, it was just the soap making the water gray colored!”
I had to laugh picturing him in the shower scrubbing away! You might be wondering if the dark color of the soap causes any staining. We have a white shower wall and soap shelf. The soaps have sat on the white shelf and there is no staining. Like any soap it will leave a soap residue but it easily wipes right off.

One swipe with a washcloth and it came right off, no staining.
The soap is made of: Saponified fats of goats milk, coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, coconut butter, castor oil, fragrance, iron oxide pigments and sodium hydroxide (lye). I was not familiar with Iron Oxide Pigments so did a little research and found out that it is considered a non-toxic coloring that is non-bleeding and commonly found in cosmetics, including many “natural” cosmetics.
I love that these natural soaps are handmade at a farm in North Carolina. We always try to buy made in the USA products which can be difficult to find at times. Another important factor for us is that they use recycled packaging for the soaps!
These soaps would make a great gift for the Hunter or Huntress in your life so visit the Omniio website by clicking here and go check them out!

Interesting! I know nothing about hunting, so something like using a specific soap before heading out is something I would have never thought of. Liked the story about your husband and the dark soap. Funny!

Something about goat’s milk makes soap so darn smooth and moisturizing. These soaps sound awesome, especially because they are made in the USA and use recycled packaging. Perfect for a giveaway!
